    Description

This item is a new professional quality 8x10 photo reprint of a newspaper ad from:
The Washington bee (Washington, D.C.), March 11, 1899
“Take Out Kink, The only article ever manufactured that actually takes the kink out of the hair.”
Lee's Take Out Kink will make the hair straight, soft, pliable and beautiful. Nicely perfumed. Guaranteed pure and harmless. One bottle will convince the most doubtful that it will do all we claim for it. Manufactured only by Lee Medicant Company, S. HELLER, 720 Seventh St. NW Washington, D. C.
    The Washington Bee
was an African American Washington D.C. based weekly newspaper. It was founded in 1882 and throughout most of its forty years in publication it was edited by Willilam Calvin Chase, an African-American lawyer and journalist. It continued publication, with brief gaps, until shortly after the death of Chase in 1922.
