Description

This is a collection of 78 snapshots revolving around a United States African American soldier based in Japan. There are wonderful photographs of military life, civilians, a military baseball team, trolleys, jets, and even children swimming. Some of the portraits of the soldiers are excellent.
SIZE. 50 of the photos are approximately 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches. 14 are approximately 3 3/4 x 4 7/8 inches. 6 are approximately 3 1/2 x 5 inches. 5 are approximately 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. 1 is 5 1/4 x 3 3/8 inches. 1 is approximately 4 7/8 x 3 1/2 inches. 1 is approximately 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches.
CONDITION. These are slightly curved (they don’t lie completely flat). Some wear at corners. Some creases. 1 has a piece that is creased, torn, and bent forward. Other minimal wear. Overall condition is good. Please see scans.
APPEARANCE. Overall, good tones and details throughout. Some fantastic scenes and portraits in the group. An extensive snapshot collection.
